Pushing Horological Boundaries in Style

The Datograph line-up in the current catalog at A. Lange & Söhne is defined by 13 chronograph variants. Among these is the Datograph Up/Down which made its debut in 2012. Its addition gave a dedicated power-reserve indicator timepiece to the collection with a beefy reserve of 60 hours, impressive for a complicated timepiece. Joining its pink gold and platinum siblings, this new white gold and blue dial variant released at Watches and Wonders 2024 packs in a flyback chronograph, a precisely jumping minute counter, the signature outsized date and a power-reserve indicator at 6 o’clock.

The functionalities and displays are supported by the in-house caliber L951.6 consisting of 451 parts. Its 41mm case offers a display of a blue dial, a first for the Datograph Up/Down, on its frontal facet while the sapphire case back reveals the grandeur intricacies of its state-of-the-art caliber. The movement beats away at 18,000 vph and gets the feature of a column wheel flyback chronograph. On the dial side, we get an impressive display of A. Lange & Söhne’s exercise in balancing proportions where the extensive total of functions and displays is designed to suffice the timekeeping duties while maintaining a clinical aesthetic.

A Limited Edition with a New Color

At first glance, the anniversary Datograph Up/Down may not appear extraordinarily unique, but its distinctive color and material selection surely make it a truly distinctive iteration of the model. Moreover, the limited-edition status of the timepiece, which is an obvious rarity in the Datograph line-up will up its demand and make it appeal to seasoned connoisseurs.
