H. Moser & Cie.’s New Retrograde Seconds Trio: One Complication, Three Personalities
H. Moser & Cie. has expanded its acclaimed retrograde seconds display by introducing three distinct interpretations across its iconic collections. Unifying this trio is a playful 30-second retrograde complication where the seconds hand sweeps across an arc for 30 seconds before instantly snapping back to zero. At the heart of this display is a double snail cam and a hairspring-driven rack mechanism that allows wearers to observe the dynamic motion in action. A two-tone disc beneath the snail further indicates whether the watch is in the first or second half of the cycle. To know about their previous release, click here.
Pioneer Skeleton Retrograde Seconds (Ref. 3251-1200)
The Pioneer Skeleton Retrograde Seconds offers a technical and sculptural take on the complication by laying its mechanics completely bare. Housed in a steel case measuring 40.0 mm in diameter and 12.0 mm in height including the domed sapphire crystal, this model features a screw-in crown adorned with an "M" and is water-resistant to 12 ATM. Its fully skeletonised dial showcases leaf-shaped hour and minute hands filled with Super-LumiNova alongside faceted applique indices with Super-LumiNova dots. Driven by a fully skeletonised HMC 251 Manufacture self-winding calibre with a frequency of 21,600 Vib/h, 29 jewels, an automatic bi-directional pawl winding system, an engraved and skeletonised oscillating weight, an Original Straumann hairspring, and an anthracite finish with Moser double stripes, it delivers a minimum power reserve of 3 days and features hacking seconds alongside hours, minutes, and the 30-second retrograde jump. The watch is presented on a steel bracelet engraved with the H. Moser & Cie. logo, accompanied by an extra khaki rubber strap with a steel pin buckle.

Streamliner Retrograde Seconds (Ref. 6252-1200)
The Streamliner Retrograde Seconds infuses the complication with a contemporary, fluid expression. Featuring a 40.0 mm steel case with a domed sapphire crystal height of 12.1 mm (10.2 mm without), a screw-in crown adorned with an "M", and a water-resistance of 12 ATM, it pairs its smooth curves with a Midnight Blue fumé sunburst dial and a transparent lacquer logo. The dial is equipped with facetted applique indices and hour and minute hands featuring Super-LumiNova inserts. Powering the watch is the HMC 252 Manufacture self-winding calibre featuring a 30-second retrograde module developed by Agenhor SA, operating at a frequency of 21,600 Vib/h with 31 jewels, an automatic bi-directional pawl winding system, an engraved oscillating weight, an Original Straumann hairspring, and partially skeletonised bridges with an anthracite finish and Moser double stripes. It offers a minimum 3-day power reserve, hacking seconds, hours, minutes, and retrograde seconds, and is completed with an integrated steel bracelet featuring a folding clasp with three steel blades engraved with the brand logo.

Endeavour Retrograde Seconds (Ref. 1252-1200)
Designed with understated elegance, the Endeavour Retrograde Seconds wraps high complications in a refined and classic package. It features a 40.0 mm steel case with a sapphire crystal height of 11.2 mm (9.9 mm without), a crown adorned with an "M", and a water-resistance of 3 ATM. Its Blackor fumé sunburst dial features a discreet transparent lacquer logo, leaf-shaped hour and minute hands, and faceted applique indices. With the introduction of the Pioneer Skeleton Retrograde Seconds, the Streamliner Retrograde Seconds, and the Endeavour Retrograde Seconds, H. Moser & Cie. demonstrates a masterclass in versatility within Haute Horlogerie
How does the 30-second retrograde display actually function on the dial?
A double snail cam works in permanent contact with a sector or finger to release energy stored by a hairspring every 30 seconds, while a two-tone disc underneath tracks whether the watch is in the first or second half of the cycle.
What are the power reserve and water resistance specifications shared across these new models?
All three models offer a minimum power reserve of 3 days via their self-winding calibres. The Pioneer and Streamliner models feature a water resistance of 12 ATM, whereas the dressier Endeavour model is water-resistant to 3 ATM.
Which movements power these three new interpretations?
The Pioneer Skeleton Retrograde Seconds is driven by the fully skeletonised HMC 251 Manufacture calibre, while both the Streamliner and Endeavour models utilize the HMC 252 Manufacture calibre integrated with a 30-second retrograde module developed by Agenhor SA.
