Is Breguet About To Make A Comeback?
Breguet is beginning to look less like a heritage brand being carried by its history and more like a Maison whose market is quietly repricing. The evidence is not yet a full-scale renaissance: it is a sequence of improving liquidity, selective auction strength, a credible product reset, and a secondary market that has begun to reward the brand’s most historically literate references.

The case for a comeback
For much of the post-2022 correction, Breguet sat awkwardly between two watch-market worlds. It possessed an incomparable archive - Abraham-Louis Breguet’s tourbillon, Breguet overcoil, pare-chute shock protection, early self-winding watches, guilloché dials, and the first wristwatch commissioned by Caroline Murat, but its modern-market narrative lacked the urgency of Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, or the leading independents.
That imbalance is starting to change. According to the Secondary Market Movements Report by EveryWatch, in 2025, Breguet recorded USD 127.3 million in secondary-market sales value, up 57.6% year on year, 5,807 watches sold, up 52.7%, and a median sold price of USD 25,646, up 5.7%. Its turnover rate reached 53.8%, while median days online stood at 63.
Those are not numbers that place Breguet alongside Rolex or Patek Philippe in absolute scale. But they are meaningful because they show demand becoming transactional rather than merely rhetorical. In a market where liquidity, sell-through, and days-on-market now matter more than isolated price headlines, Breguet’s 2025 performance was materially stronger than its recent reputation.
What the data shows
Breguet secondary-market metric, 2025 | Result | Year-on-year change |
Total sales value | USD 127,333,369 | +57.6% |
Watches sold | 5,807 | +52.7% |
Median sold price | USD 25,646 | +5.7% |
Turnover rate | 53.8% | — |
Median days online | 63 | — |
The most important figure is not the 57.6% increase in value sold. It is the combination of a 52.7% rise in units sold with a 5.7% rise in median price. That is demand broadening and firming, not simply a handful of exceptional auction lots distorting a small sample.
Breguet’s 2025 result also outperformed several better-known Swatch Group peers in percentage terms. Vacheron Constantin grew 70.3% in value sold, while Blancpain rose 69.2%, Breguet’s 57.6% placed it firmly among the strongest heritage-brand recoveries tracked by EveryWatch.

The index is turning
WatchCharts’ Breguet Market Index offers a more granular view. The index covers the brand’s top 30 references by transaction value, weighted annually, and is therefore a measure of the market’s most actively traded Breguet watches rather than a claim about every reference.
In August 2026, Breguet was the only major brand tracked by WatchCharts to rise more than 1% in a month, gaining 1.2% while the overall market index rose 0.4%. Its rolling returns were positive across one month, three months, six months, and one year: +1.1%, +3.5%, +4.8%, and +5.8%, respectively.
Breguet index performance | Change |
One month | +1.1% |
Three months | +3.5% |
Six months | +4.8% |
One year | +5.8% |
Three years | -4.9% |
Five years | -0.9% |
This is the shape of a genuine, if early, recovery: short- and medium-term momentum has turned positive, while the longer-term figures remain negative. The market is not pretending that the prior decade never happened. It is beginning to price Breguet as though the worst of the correction is behind it.

Where demand is concentrating
The revival is not uniform. It is concentrated in references with a clear horological argument: classical case architecture, hand-finishing, complications, and a direct connection to the Maison's historical identity.
EveryWatch’s 2026 investment-grade guide highlights three such references: the Tradition 7027, the Classique Perpetual Calendar Chronograph 3617, and the Perpetual Calendar Retrograde Tourbillon Skeleton 3755BA. The Tradition 7027 trades around USD 19,000 and has risen 32% over two years, the 3617 has a current median of CHF 91,400, more than double its value four years earlier, and the 3755BA recently achieved USD 73,403 at auction.
Reference | Why it matters | Market signal |
Tradition 7027 | Exposes the movement’s architecture, a modern expression of Breguet’s technical identity | About USD 19,000, +32% over two years |
Classique Perpetual Calendar Chronograph 3617 | Combines classical Breguet design with high complication | CHF 91,400 median, more than double its value four years ago |
Classique Perpetual Calendar 3050BA | Daniel Roth-era neo-vintage Breguet | Sold for EUR 85,800 against a EUR 15,000-30,000 estimate |
Perpetual Calendar Retrograde Tourbillon Skeleton 3755BA | Rare, visually radical high complication | Recent auction result of USD 73,403 |
The EUR 85,800 result for a yellow-gold Classique Perpetual Calendar, reference 3050BA, is especially telling. It exceeded the top of estimate by nearly three times, confirming that collectors are no longer buying Breguet solely for a famous name, they are paying for the particular historical moment in which Daniel Roth reinterpreted the Maison's classical language.
The Roth effect
Any serious account of Breguet’s resurgence must acknowledge the Chaumet-era watches made under Daniel Roth’s direction. Introduced from 1976 onward, these pieces arrived when the Swiss industry was under existential pressure from quartz, yet they reasserted Breguet’s classical identity with unusual conviction.
They are now being recognized as neo-vintage classics in their own right. That matters because collector demand is often built from the past inward: a collector who discovers Breguet through a Roth-era perpetual calendar may eventually seek a modern Classique, Tradition, or marine-inspired reference. The secondary market is therefore doing something the primary market has struggled to do for years - re-establishing a coherent value hierarchy across generations of Breguet production.

Morgan Stanley’s scoreboard
The annual Morgan Stanley-LuxeConsult ranking remains the industry’s most widely cited measure of Swiss watch brands’ financial scale. For 2025, Breguet produced an estimated 5,800 watches at an average retail price of CHF 35,256.
Breguet primary-market indicator | Estimate |
Annual production | 5,800 watches |
Average retail price | CHF 35,256 |
Turnover | Approximately CHF 140 million |
Implied retail revenue | Approximately CHF 204.5 million |
Secondary-market median price | USD 20,900 / CHF 17,155 |
Secondary-market price change | +12.5% in the past year |
The arithmetic exposes Breguet’s central challenge. Its average retail price is roughly double the current median secondary-market price, and a buyer with about USD 30,000 can choose between a new Classique 5177 or a pre-owned example closer to USD 20,000.
That gap is not fatal, many great brands trade below retail, but it does mean Breguet cannot rely on scarcity theatre. It must make the new-watch experience, product coherence, and residual-value confidence strong enough that collectors see a reason to buy new rather than wait for the secondary market.

A selective, credible revival
The evidence supports a cautious but real conclusion: Breguet is bouncing. Secondary-market sales value rose 57.6% in 2025, volumes rose 52.7%, the brand index has turned positive over the past year, and exceptional neo-vintage and vintage references are achieving results that would have seemed improbable during the depths of the correction.
But this is not yet a broad-based repricing of every Breguet. The WatchCharts brand index remained down 4.9% over three years and 0.9% over five years as of September 2026, while the broader Breguet market had fallen 2.3% over the preceding 180 days at the time of the cited data.
The correct interpretation is therefore neither denial nor hype. Breguet is emerging from a long period of underperformance with improving liquidity, renewed critical recognition, and a collector base that is rediscovering the depth of its archive. If the maison can align modern retail execution with the value collectors already assign to its greatest references, the comeback will no longer be a question. It will become a fact.
