Naoya Hida & Co. was established in Tokyo in 2018 by Naoya Hida, an industry veteran who spent decades spearheading sales and marketing in Japan for prestigious brands like Breguet, Vacheron Constantin, and F.P. Journe. Driven by a lifelong passion for the "golden age of mechanical watches" spanning the 1930s to the 1960s, Hida set out to create his ideal timepieces. To realize this vision, he assembled a small, elite team consisting of master watchmaker Kosuke Fujita and expert engraver Keisuke Kano. Together, they operate on a micro-scale, producing a highly limited number of pieces each year. Their philosophy revolves around a "modern vintage" concept which blends the romantic aesthetics and classic proportions of mid-century horology with the precision of cutting-edge microfabrication and meticulous Japanese handcraftsmanship.
Where the brand truly sets itself apart is in its breathtaking dial work. The timepieces frequently feature multi-level dials machined from solid German silver. These dials are then painstakingly hand-engraved by Kano with Breguet or Roman numerals before being filled with materials like synthetic Urushi lacquer. Through highly coveted releases spanning from the foundational Type 1 to the sophisticated Type 7 chronograph, Naoya Hida has carved out a unique space in independent watchmaking, perfectly marrying Swiss mechanical heritage with an unmistakably refined, Japanese artisanal soul.
