YANE (屋根), meaning roof in Japanese, draws inspiration from the iconic temple roofs of Asakusa, where KIWAME TOKYO was born. Rather than simply referencing traditional architecture, the design reinterprets the roof from multiple perspectives. The case profile echoes its graceful silhouette, while the upper and lower lugs feature a three-dimensional pattern inspired by traditional roof tiles. At 12 o’clock, the signature index takes its form from the mune, the roof ridge, while the caseback incorporates a pattern inspired by taruki, the exposed rafters beneath temple eaves. Together, these details transform the architectural character of Asakusa into the very foundation of the watch’s design.
