The SUB 200 has never needed an introduction. Its unmistakable silhouette, bold colours and unmistakable dive-watch personality have made it one of DOXA’s most recognisable creations. With the SUB 200 II, however, the brand is not simply adding another variation to its accessible dive-watch collection. Instead, it is refining a formula that has been rooted in professional diving for decades giving the watch a slimmer profile, introducing fumé dials for the first time and offering new bracelet and strap options that bring a more contemporary versatility to its unmistakable tool-watch character.

The result is a SUB that remains instantly recognisable, but reveals a more sophisticated side of itself. It is still a serious dive watch, with 200 metres of water resistance, a unidirectional bezel and a robust stainless-steel construction. Yet the new details make it equally convincing away from the water, demonstrating how a genuine tool watch can evolve without losing the character that made it an icon. 

A New Face: The Fumé Dial

Perhaps the most significant visual change comes from the dial. For the first time in the SUB 200 collection, DOXA introduces a fumé treatment, bringing greater depth and movement to the watch's famously expressive colour palette. Available in black, grey, blue, green and red, each dial transitions from a brighter centre to darker edges, creating a subtle gradient that changes character as it catches the light.

The effect is enhanced by a moiré finish, adding another layer of texture to the surface. Rather than overwhelming the dial, however, the treatment works within the established SUB design language. The large hour markers and hands remain clear and highly legible, while the contrast between the illuminated centre and darker periphery gives the watch greater visual depth.

This is where the SUB 200 II begins to reveal its new personality. Fumé is traditionally associated with a more refined and dressier approach to watchmaking, but here it is being applied to a distinctly utilitarian dive watch. While the SUB 200 II retains its distinctive 44mm case diameter, its profile has been reduced to approximately 12.80mm, making it around 1mm slimmer than the classic SUB 200. DOXA's compact architecture, short lugs and carefully considered proportions mean that the watch wears closer to what its visual footprint might suggest from a smaller case. The result is a surprisingly balanced presence for a 44mm dive watch.

Importantly, the slimming has not come at the expense of capability. The SUB 200 II remains water-resistant to 200 metres, while the unidirectional bezel retains its functional purpose. An aluminium bezel insert provides a lightweight and corrosion-resistant solution, while the scratch-resistant, anti-reflective domed sapphire crystal protects the dial. In other words, DOXA has refined the watch rather than softened it. The SUB 200 II remains a tool watch first.

A New Personality: Milanese Mesh And Retro Rubber

Perhaps the most interesting change is not the case or dial, but what surrounds it. DOXA introduces two new strap options as permanent additions to the collection: a stainless-steel Milanese mesh bracelet and a textured rubber strap with a distinctly retro-diving aesthetic.

The Milanese mesh is particularly compelling because it connects the contemporary SUB 200 II to the visual language of vintage dive watches. Its tightly woven steel construction gives the bracelet a supple, almost textile-like flexibility while retaining the strength and durability expected of a dive watch. It also allows the watch to transition effortlessly from the water to the city, adding a touch of understated sophistication to the otherwise robust case. Together, the two options underline an important evolution in the SUB 200 II. The watch no longer has to occupy a single role. When Black Meets Redcoral

For those looking for something more dramatic, DOXA introduces a black DLC edition paired with a new dial colour called Redcoral. The case, bezel and crown are coated entirely in black DLC, creating a darker, more contemporary interpretation of the SUB 200 II.

Against this monochromatic exterior, the Redcoral dial becomes the star. Its deep, dense colour shifts subtly in the light, revealing darker nuances that can appear almost mineral-like before becoming more vibrant. The inspiration is unmistakably marine: the colour recalls the richness of coral beneath tropical waters, where light changes continuously as it penetrates the surface. It is a bold interpretation of DOXA's diving identity, but not an arbitrary one. Colour has always been central to the SUB story, and the Redcoral edition simply pushes that language into a more modern and assertive territory.

The Accessible Face Of DOXA

As the most accessible model in DOXA's SUB family, the SUB 200 has always offered a direct route into the brand's distinctive world of professional dive watches. The SUB 200 II builds on that proposition without overcomplicating it. Its 316L stainless-steel case, 200-metre water resistance, domed sapphire crystal and unidirectional bezel establish the functional foundation. A Swiss automatic movement provides the power, with approximately 38 hours of power reserve, while a date display at 3 o'clock adds everyday practicality.

What makes the SUB 200 II particularly interesting, however, is the balance between function and refinement. DOXA has not attempted to turn its dive watch into a dress watch. Instead, it has allowed the original tool-watch character to evolve naturally with richer dials, slimmer proportions and more versatile ways of wearing it.
