Created to highlight and reward the absolute highest standards of horological art, the GPHG evaluates watches across multiple distinct categories, honouring everything from ultra-complex mechanical engineering to traditional artistic craftsmanship. Earning a spot on the official GPHG competing list is a major stamp of global credibility for any brand. For the 2026 edition, Indian watchmaking has made a bold statement on the global stage. Based on the official GPHG 2026 competing watches list, six distinct timepieces from four homegrown brands have officially entered the competition.
Titan
Titan secured two nominations this year, representing both their pursuit of ultra-thin engineering and innovative design. Competing in the Essential category, the EDGE UltraSlim Mechanical features a highly engineered 40 mm titanium case measuring just 5.7 mm in thickness. It houses the skeletonized, hand-wound Calibre Edge 903, which is a mere 2.20 mm thick. Instead of traditional hands, it utilizes an innovative rotating dual-disc system for a visually balanced time display, while offering a 42-hour power reserve and 30 meters of water resistance. Their second entry, The Wandering Meteor, is nominated in the highly competitive Challenge category, which is reserved for watches under a specific accessible price point. The crystalline structures shimmer like constellations, catching the light as though fragments of distant galaxies have been captured and preserved in metal.
Delhi Watch Company (DWC)
Competing under the Challenge category, the Delhi Watch Company has put forward the DWC Terra. Rather than looking like a traditional round watch, the Terra features a 33.8 by 42.2 mm titanium case with a thickness of 9.1 mm that is directly inspired by the functional geometry and structural logic of a carabiner. Equipped with a matte black dial and offering 30 meters of water resistance, this unique timepiece was created as a 5,555-piece limited series to celebrate the brand's fifth anniversary. To accommodate its unique geometry, the titanium case requires a specialized manufacturing process. Instead of standard CNC machining, the initial 2D profile is shaped from sheet stock using water-jet and wire EDM cutting, efficiently achieving precise tolerances of ±20 microns. Standard machining and finishing techniques are then applied to finalize its 3D structure. The Terra represents DWC's belief that innovation in watchmaking can emerge not only from complications or materials, but also from rethinking the relationship between design, manufacturing and utility. Inspired by a humble tool used around the world, it is a watch that embraces functional design and industrial rawness.
Bangalore Watch Company
Bangalore Watch Company is also competing in the Challenge category with their innovative model named Carbon. The standout engineering feature of this watch is its ReforgeCarbon dial, which was developed in collaboration with a material innovation firm. The dial is a proprietary forged composite made using actual carbon particulate matter recovered from the atmosphere. By compressing this captured carbon black with thermoset resin under high pressure, the brand has created a lightweight, dimensionally stable dial where the resulting marbled pattern is a natural, unrepeated consequence of the compression process.
Jaipur Watch Company
Known for embedding Indian history into its timepieces, Jaipur Watch Company secured two official nominations this year. Competing in the Challenge category, the Premium Baagh Gaurav Mehta Signature Series features a 40 mm stainless steel case with hand-engraved flanks measuring 15.47 mm thick. Its multi-layered dial is a showcase of traditional craftsmanship, combining a turquoise stone mosaic backdrop, authentic pink Muslin Khadi fabric, a ruby-set Chhatri pavilion, and a sculpted golden tiger. It is powered by a Swiss-made Sellita SW200 automatic movement and offers 100 meters of water resistance. Additionally, the brand's Maharana Pratap Stamp Watch Automatic has been nominated in the Time Only category. Competing in a space dedicated to the purest expressions of classic two- or three-hand timekeeping, this automatic watch stays true to the brand's heritage roots by integrating historical postal art directly into the dial.
The inclusion of these six distinct timepieces on the GPHG 2026 shortlist marks a defining moment for Indian horology on the global stage.
