In the field of classical dress watchmaking, no brand is held in quite such high regard and esteem as Jaeger-LeCoultre. Since it has long been known as the "Watchmaker of Watchmakers", the Grand Maison is now concentrating on one of its most beloved modern collections. The Maison has launched a new, elegantly proportioned version of the watch the Master Ultra-Thin Moon in 36 mm and 18-karat pink gold. The watch has reduced the case to a more conventional, gender-neutral 36 mm diameter, thus adopting vintage proportions while at the same time providing fully modern mechanical performance. 

A Perfectly Proportioned Case 

For those watch lovers who have always appreciated the visual balance of the Master Ultra-Thin Moon collection but wished for a more personal, classic look on the wrist, the 36mm size represents a helpful development. The case is made completely from polished 18K pink gold and is only 9.34 mm thick. This extremely thin design allows the watch to slide smoothly under the cuff of a tailored shirt and to rest on the wrist with almost no weight at all. Despite its delicate appearance, the watch is equipped with a sapphire crystal case back and offers a practical water resistance of 5 bar (50 metres). 

Understated Dial Harmony 

The dial of the Q1242521 is a fine example of legibility combined with subtle luxury. It has a clean silver-grey surface which is sunray brushed and plays along with the light. On the dial are elegant applied faceted trapezoidal hour markers in a gilt finish that matches the dial, together with a fine minute track resembling pearls. The hands, which indicate the time, replicate the classic Dauphine design and are both beautifully polished with a satin finish. The main feature of the watch is located at the 6 o'clock position and consists of an elegantly integrated pointer-date and moon-phase complication. Against a deep blue background studded with stars, the golden moon disc moves in a poetic manner according to the lunar cycle and is surrounded by a ring which shows the date with a thin hand. 

The Mechanical Heart: Calibre 925 

In keeping with Jaeger-LeCoultre's tradition, the beauty inside the watch is just as much as the artistry displayed on the outside. When you flip the watch over you can see the self-winding Manufacture Calibre 925 through the sapphire exhibition case back. Comprising 245 parts and made entirely in-house, the movement provides a remarkable 70-hour power reserve, so the watch can be left on a Friday evening and then taken out again on Monday morning without losing any time. The movement is finely finished with traditional Geneva stripes, perlage, and blued screws, and is topped off by a newly designed, open-worked oscillating weight that is crafted out of 22-karat pink gold. The watch is supplied with an elegant black alligator leather strap, fitted with quick-release spring bars and an interchangeable 18-karat pink gold pin buckle. This smooth strap-changing system enables the wearer to easily switch the watch from formal evening wear to smart-casual clothing.
