Konstantin Chaykin has expanded his iconic Wristmons collection which we know and love with the breathtaking Seneca II, a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that was created specifically for the Watches for ELA 2026 charity auction organized by Christie's. This timepiece was inspired by the ancient Roman Stoic philosopher and statesman Seneca the Younger, and brilliantly merges the high-concept independent watchmaking with profound philosophical storytelling.

Artistic Design and the "Joker" Face

True to Chaykin's classic and signature anthropomorphic Wristmons style, the dial has brought the philosopher's visage to life through a of clever arrangement of indications. The upper sub-dials of the watch function as a pair of expressive eyes which feature silver-gray backgrounds, directional brushing, and synthetic ruby-tipped hands that mimic pupils. Below this gaze lies the wave-pattern guilloché which captures the texture of an ancient sage's beard, while also framing an open smiling mouth that incorporates a charming moon-phase display.

Philosophical Details and Innovations

The timepiece is filled with the different and subtle intellectual tributes to Seneca's teachings on virtue as well as morality. A prominent feature of this watch is the date display that is situated between the eyes, further magnified by a convex 4 mm sapphire lens, which incorporates Latin letters woven between the numerals to spell out Seneca’s treatise maxim: Non fructum beneficiorum sequi, which means "To seek no reward for good deeds." Additionally, the titanium case features the philosopher's name, SENECA, which is elegantly engraved directly into the sculptural bezel architecture.
