This time, the brand is doubling down on its Malaysian roots by teaming up with Royal Selangor, a prestigious Kuala Lumpur-based pewterware maker dating back to 1885. 

The result of this unique partnership is the MING 37.06 Royal Selangor, a limited edition of 88 pieces that pairs the brand's versatile 37-series titanium case with a dramatically hammered pewter dial. 

A Canvas of Hammered Pewter

The focal point of the 37.06 Royal Selangor is undeniably its dial. Made by Royal Selangor, the dial is crafted from a tin-based alloy consisting of roughly 97 percent tin, strengthened with copper and antimony. The surface undergoes a largely manual process of casting, filing, polishing, and finishing to achieve an exaggerated, heavily hammered texture. Because pewter does not tarnish or corrode, but rather develops a soft patina over time, the dial is left completely uninterrupted. MING opted to forgo any printing or applied markers on the dial surface itself. Instead, the hour markers, luminescent track, and the MING logo are engraved and infilled with Super-LumiNova X1 on the underside of the top sapphire crystal. This allows the indices to visually float above the grooves of the hammered metal, perfectly complementing the brand's distinctive blued 37-series handset, which is also treated with a generous dose of luminescence. Titanium Proportions

Framing the visually noisy dial is the demure, fully brushed grade-2 titanium case. Enthusiasts will recognize the familiar and highly wearable proportions of MING’s 37-series, as the case measures exactly 38 millimeters in diameter with a thickness of 11.05 millimeters and a compact lug-to-lug distance of 44.73 millimeters. With a head weight of just 35.9 grams and a water resistance rating of 100 meters, the case offers a minimalist platform that lets the textured pewter shine without compromising on everyday versatility.

Mechanics and Malaysian Assembly

Turning the watch over reveals an exhibition caseback engraved with both MING and Royal Selangor branding along the periphery. At the heart of the watch beats the automatic Sellita for MING SW300.M1 caliber. While it shares architecture with a standard SW300, the movement has been heavily customized for the brand, featuring skeletonized and blacked-out bridges, a rhodium-plated finish, and a skeletonized, signed rotor. In a significant move that honours the collaboration’s heritage, all 88 pieces of this limited edition are assembled locally in Kuala Lumpur. This marks the first time MING has handled final assembly locally for a collaboration, rather than relying on its traditional Swiss assembly lines.

Presentation and Availability

The unboxing experience mirrors the watch itself, as the 37.06 Royal Selangor is delivered in a special hammered pewter presentation box. Designed by MING and manufactured by Royal Selangor, this heavy metal box offers a desk-friendly extension of the dial's distinct aesthetic. To complete the wearing experience, the watch is fitted to a blue-grey goat leather strap crafted by Jean Rousseau, which comes complete with curved quick-release spring bars and a flying-blade tuck buckle with micro-adjustment capabilities. The watch is priced at CHF 5,000 and is strictly limited to 88 pieces globally. It will be available first through Royal Selangor boutiques starting July 30, 2026, with limited stock following on the official MING website on August 6, 2026.
