Diwali is fondly known to all of us as the festival of lights and a few symbols of light shine as beautifully as a century old maison like Breguet. While the houses are decorated with lights and gold is given as a symbol of prosperity, Reine de Naples offers its owners a gift of an equal spirit: radiant, precious and noble, made to last several generations. Reine de Naples remains the Manufacture’s only fully feminine collection. It had been enriched on the occasion of its 250th anniversary with some of its most beautiful creations crafted for the very first time in Breguet gold.

Reine de Naples 9935: a gift written in the stars

The Reine de Naples Phase de Lune 9935 is a fitting choice for Diwali which falls on a new moon day. It is the first model of the anniversary year to be conceived as a purely feminine creation. With no power-reserve indicator, the display is simplified to hours, minutes, small seconds and a generously enlarged moon phase. The most striking version of the new watch features a Breguet gold case and a two-level dial. The top element is blue aventurine glass, created by accident by Murano glassmakers, hence the name derived from Italian a ventura, “by chance.” Behind this layer, thinner one of Tahitian mother-of-pearl shifts in the light like an aurora. The domed white mother-of-pearl moon rests on a blue aventurine disc, and it carries a secret: a transparent silhouette of the night star, visible only to the person who wears it and looks really close. Six pear-shaped diamonds are set between the gold Breguet numerals, marking a first for the collection. The case back is engraved “BREGUET 250 YEARS” and through the sapphire crystal you can see a 950 platinum oscillating weight with a hand-guilloché “Petit Trianon” motif.

Reine de Naples 8925: gold in its purest voice

Now it’s not necessary for all festive gifts to sparkle in order to stand out . The self-winding Reine de Naples 8925 takes its inspiration from Breguet's founding principle of clarity and legibility. It displays simply the hours and the minutes. The bezel now features 41 diamonds and the gold bracelet is snow-set at its round central lug for the first time. It is available in three faces: the first is extra-white mother-of-pearl with gold Breguet numerals on a “Quai de l’Horloge” guilloché ground, the second is a tribute to Breguet gold itself, running through the bracelet, fluted case and guilloché chapter ring against a sunburst-brushed dial, and the third is a study in contrast, with a glossy black lacquered hour ring beneath shimmering black aventurine. All are crowned by a pear-shaped diamond at 12 o'clock, above the Manufacture's signature.

Crazy Flower: diamonds in motion

For the most exceptional occasions, Breguet unveils two High Jewellery creations that blend Haute Horlogerie and Haute Joaillerie. The Reine de Naples Crazy Flower draws its inspiration from the frangipani flower: its mobile gold corollas are paved with baguette-cut diamonds, each individually placed, and follow the curve of your wrist so that the stones ripple with every movement that you make. The dial is also paved, but with the diamonds set upside down so that every single one forms the pistil of the flower. There is a total of 436 diamonds weighing 37.2 carats. Powering this masterpiece is calibre 586/1, measuring a mere 3.9 mm in thickness with a 38-hour power reserve. Completing this jewel is a champagne-coloured alligator strap, set with a diamond triple folding clasp. Each piece is created only as per order.

Perles Impériales: a tribute to the pearl

The Reine de Naples Perles Impériales pays tribute to the Akoya pearl, one of the most coveted pearl of all. Set on a lattice of heart-shaped claws, 38 diamonds frame the case, while 211 brilliant-cut diamonds set on an opal dial encircle a pear-shaped diamond at 12 o’clock. A perfect Akoya pearl replaces the ball attachment normally used on the collection’s timepieces at 6 o’clock, echoing the ellipse of the case. The bracelet’s central row is composed solely of pearls, with two rows of gold links at either side. Also available is a champagne alligator strap. The same calibre 586/1 beats inside, visible through the sapphire case back along with its hand-guilloché platinum oscillating weight.
