The new Freak ONE Blue Enamel merges futuristic engineering with a 3,000-year-old craft. In this edition, the iconic rotating hour disc which normally serves as a functional, mobile component of the movement rather than a static dial, undergoes an intense transformation at Donzé Cadrans, Ulysse Nardin’s historic in-house enamelling atelier. Crafted from white gold to withstand severe thermal stress, the disc features an engraved sunray pattern coated in vibrant blue enamel, built layer by layer through kiln firings at roughly 800°C. Each firing carries the high risk of a crack or bubble forcing artisans to restart from scratch.
High-Technology Mechanics and Titanium Design
Framed by a lightweight 44 mm satin-finished and sandblasted titanium case, the rich blue enamel background creates a striking visual contrast against the floating, orbital flying carousel acting as the minute hand. Beneath this artistic exterior beats the high-performance manufacture calibre UN-240. It features an oversized silicon balance wheel, a diamond-coated DIAMonSIL escapement capable of weathering over 185 million impacts a year, and the patented Grinder automatic winding system, utilizing four ultra-thin levers to capture even the slightest wrist motion and deliver a robust 90-hour power reserve.
