The Impossibly Small Canvas

Every single artist was restricted to a strict 42-millimeter case. Even more mind-boggling? They were given a maximum clearance of exactly 4 millimeters between the dial's surface and the protective sapphire crystal to build their 3D landscapes. To make this work without jamming the watch's movement, the watchmakers had to engineer specialized components, like a bespoke perforated titanium dial plate just to stitch the tiger's embroidery directly into the watch's architecture!

The Feather Snake

Slithering a mere 3 millimeters above the dial, this magical serpent is a masterpiece of micro-plumasserie that utilizes the natural iridescence and shifting reflections of feathers to create a powerful illusion of depth. To give the snake its incredible volume and plasticity, the artist used a specially developed metal appliqué as a structural base. From there, over 200 tiny pieces derived from seven distinct, rare Lophophore feathers were meticulously applied. Demanding a level of precision comparable to actual surgery, the entire process including intense research and prototyping took approximately 250 hours to complete.

The Glass Octopus

Floating mysteriously across a nocturnal, circular underwater landscape, this transparent cephalopod is a triumph of miniature glass sculpting that rises just 3.5 millimeters above the dial. To achieve this, artisans had to melt tiny glass rods and shape them using highly specialized tungsten tools created exclusively for this project. Figuring out how to seamlessly integrate such a fragile microscopic sculpture into the rigid architecture of a watch dial turned into a massive challenge. The overall development process took over a year, and even then, producing just a single prototype demanded at least three full days of intense labor.

The Micro Origami Manta Rays

Suspended on fine brass stems over a deep-blue, hand-guilloché nocturnal sea, a swirling group of tiny manta rays gives the illusion of creatures floating weightlessly through water. Ranging from 5 to 10 millimeters in length, these rays were folded from Japanese paper originally measuring just 9 to 12 millimeters. Creating them was an exercise in extreme patience: the artist hand-colored the paper to find the exact perfect shade of oceanic blue, then folded each creature using only fingers, fingernails, and the tip of a toothpick—without any magnifying glasses! Because of this intricate, two-year development process, early pieces could require up to six grueling hours each just to fold.

The Gold Embroidery Tiger

A fierce feline stitched directly into the watch defiantly prowls through a dense, lush jungle encapsulating the dial in shimmering hues of honey and tangerine. This textural marvel is embroidered over a bespoke perforated titanium plate using 9-carat yellow and white gold wires, with hand-cut gold fragments under a millimeter long making up the body. The tiger's bold stripes were achieved by laying specially developed ceramic-coated black wires over a copper base, while its incredibly expressive eyes required ten different shades of silk to create depth. Completing a single dial took about 210 hours, which included stretching the silk on a specialist frame, building internal padding, shaping the gold, and carefully attaching the final masterpiece to the watch structure.

The Paper Sculpting Crocodile

Sneaking through seemingly snow-covered vegetation, this all-white croc is a marvel of microscopic cotton paper sculpting built from 250-gram and 300-gram sheets. The process combined laser cutting, hand assembly, and a highly precise superposition of elements to create subtle, dramatic shadow effects across the dial's four integrated apertures. To achieve the stunning relief and volume of the crocodile's scales and the surrounding foliage, brass matrices were custom-engraved, heated to between 60 and 70°C, and then pressed onto the delicate paper under intense pressure. Perfecting this dimensional presence required months of pure experimentation and the creation of entirely new, bespoke embossing tools.

The Wood Marquetry Falcon

Crafted from 12 different wood species, this fierce bird of prey swoops in using an experimental exercise in three-dimensional wood marquetry. To achieve such vibrant movement and visual depth, the artist layered three distinct techniques: circular marquetry for the background, sculpted layered marquetry for the falcon's body, and a specialized "feather-by-feather" assembly specifically developed for the wings. Because traditional woodworking tools were completely useless at this microscopic scale, the artisan had to adopt precision surgical scalpels and custom-made sanding instruments, executing the delicate hand-carved textures entirely under binocular magnification.
