Nearly six decades after DOXA changed the dive-watch landscape with the SUB 300 in 1967, the Swiss maison is once again looking to its pioneering past to shape the future. The new SUB 300 Ti5 brings Grade 5 titanium back into DOXA’s permanent collection, combining the unmistakable character of the legendary SUB with one of the most high-performance materials in modern watchmaking.

The result is a collection of seven new expressions: six familiar DOXA colourways and an entirely new interpretation of the WhitePearl, whose dial is fully coated in Super-LumiNova®. Lightweight, robust and engineered for demanding environments, the SUB 300 Ti5 remains true to the fundamentals that made the original a dive-watch icon, while introducing a distinctly contemporary edge.

Titanium, With a Purpose

The choice of Grade 5 titanium is far from cosmetic. Known for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, mechanical rigidity, corrosion resistance and remarkable comfort, titanium has long been the material of choice in industries where performance cannot be compromised. Aerospace, motorsport, advanced engineering and professional diving equipment have all embraced its unique properties.

Compared with stainless steel, Grade 5 titanium is naturally lighter while offering greater mechanical strength. On the wrist, that translates into reduced weight and enhanced comfort, particularly during prolonged wear. Its resistance to seawater, humidity, temperature fluctuations and harsh environments makes it particularly well suited to a watch designed to spend time beneath the surface.

For DOXA, however, the return of titanium is about more than technical specifications. A Familiar Instrument, Re-engineered

Grade 5 titanium is used for the case, crown and screw-in caseback, making the SUB 300 Ti5 approximately 40% lighter than its stainless-steel counterpart. The material’s strength and resistance to mechanical stress add another layer of durability, while its natural resistance to corrosion makes it particularly at home in marine environments.

Working with Grade 5 titanium is not without its challenges. The material requires specialised machining processes and considerable manufacturing expertise. DOXA’s decision to bring it back to the permanent collection is therefore a deliberate one: to explore the advantages of titanium while ensuring that the SUB 300 remains, above all else, a serious dive instrument.

And the fundamentals remain reassuringly intact. Water resistance is rated to 300 metres (984 feet), while the signature patented unidirectional rotating bezel retains its distinctive dual scale, correlating depth and dive time to help divers remain within the no-decompression limits established by the US Navy.

Beneath the domed, anti-reflective “glass box” sapphire crystal, all dive-related indications are treated with Super-LumiNova® for optimum visibility in low-light conditions. The oversized DOXA Orange minute hand remains the instant visual reference underwater, reinforcing the SUB 300’s famously intuitive approach to legibility.

Power comes from a Swiss automatic movement certified by COSC, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and offering approximately 38 hours of power reserve. A screw-down crown and screw-in caseback complete the 300-metre water-resistant construction.

Seven Colourways, Seven Personalities

The SUB 300 Ti5 arrives in seven expressions, each bringing a different personality to the familiar DOXA formula. There is the unmistakable Professional, with its legendary DOXA Orange dial; the understated Sharkhunter, rendered in black; and the deep blue Caribbean, an obvious nod to the world beneath the waves. Red Coral introduces a rich cherry-red dial that can transition effortlessly from the sporting environment to the city. 

Then comes WhitePearl, offered in two distinct versions. But here, DOXA has done considerably more than add another colour to the palette. The WhitePearl features a dial entirely coated in Super-LumiNova®, transforming the face into a luminous surface as ambient light disappears. During the day, its intense white finish creates a striking contrast against the metallic grey of the titanium case. Once darkness falls, however, the personality of the watch changes completely, with the dial glowing for exceptional and immediate legibility.

It is a clever interpretation of the SUB 300 philosophy: rather than abandoning the codes that made the watch successful, DOXA has found another way to push them forward. All seven versions are paired with Dive Flex rubber straps featuring a woven texture, reinforcing the collection’s sporty, contemporary character. The WhitePearl is available with either a black or white strap.

Every SUB 300 Ti5 is powered by a Swiss automatic movement that has received official certification from the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC), the internationally recognised benchmark for mechanical chronometric precision. COSC certification is awarded to individual movements following several days of independent testing under stringent conditions. Movements are assessed in different positions and at various temperatures to ensure consistent timekeeping across a range of circumstances.
