The new Titan automatics are here and there is so much I have to say. When I sat down with Mr Rrahul Shuklla what he said about the New Titan Vetra 7 A truly resonated with me, “Titan is creating something which is very unique to yourself, which is truly and completely Indian.” Any Indian knows Titan as the watch they have grown up watching their grandparent’s wear. It’s a watch that has been in every household and in every giftbox kept for a special occasion. But standing at the launch event of their latest creation, I realized the brand isn't just keeping time anymore, they are entirely rewriting how India makes it. The Philosophy of Vetra: Where Art Meets Mechanics

What struck me most about the unveiling wasn't just the technical specs, but the deep cultural philosophy behind the engineering. The name Vetra is a poetic fusion of two powerful concepts: Veda, representing the Indian view of time as an eternally renewing cycle, and Tra, an instrument that channels raw force into tangible form. Hearing the team talk about how this philosophy translates into the watches made it clear that every component was designed with strict intent. This isn't just about putting gears inside a case, it’s about bringing elegance, restraint, and mechanical precision into a single cohesive artifact. When asked Rrahul Shuklla how this new launch will shift Titan’s edge in the international market he reacted that Vetra isn’t meant to be compared to any watch brand, it is a creation that mimics the heartbeat of India. “We are not trying to build a higher Swiss Alps or the second Mount Fuji. But metaphorically speaking, we are trying to create Himalayas, alright, which is something which is ours, uniquely ours.”

Four Edits, One Unified Architecture

The foundational Vetra 7A series serves as a masterclass in versatility, using a unified mechanical architecture to power four distinct edits across the new Titan Automatics collection.  Driven by the 7A20+ calibre, Infinium serves as a master of endurance that delivers an impressive 72-hour power reserve housed in a clean 40mm case. Tailored for the modern traveler, Dualis features a 42mm case equipped with a GMT hand and an internal rotating 24-hour bezel for seamless local-time adjustments. Acting as a quintessential dress watch powered by the 7A77 calibre, Midnite features a crisp dual-disc big date display set against a rich vertical pattern dial. Finally, Atrium presents a striking blend of a sandblasted dial, Roman numerals, and an offset seconds sub-dial available in both concealed and open-heart variants. When asked about the design philosophy behind the watches Rrahul Shuklla answered by saying “For Titan artistry and engendering are not in war with each other. They are actually appearing together in rhythm with each other.” Every single one of these timepieces is built with 316L surgical-grade stainless steel, domed sapphire crystal with a 3-layer anti-reflective coating, and Swiss Super-Luminova X1 grade lume for exceptional nighttime legibility.
